Wumpus’s soon to be released 28-minute masterpiece ‘BIKE PORN’’ is a musical treat, but not quite a dinner. The only reason I say this is because after listening to this very short album you end up wanting more. Mostly an instrumental artistic flaunt ‘BIKE PORN’ does contain some growls, yips and whistles. Though I tend to like to compare local band’s music to other bands I can only think of two groups that even have a similiar sound; The classic electronic band CAN and New York’s DRUMS AND TUBA. But don’t go by what I say – what the fuck do I know, the only instrument I play is my blues harp . . . VERY HORRIBLY!

Local producer, Jon Hegg filled the recording with lots of loops, bends and doo-hickies which make it whimsical & creepy wrapped all together in a brown paper bag. Another thing Wumpus has accomplished with ‘BIKE PORN’ is a theme. Originally written as a movie soundtrack, that was probably a good idea. I go by the motto, “If you can’t listen to the whole album in one sitting – go sell it to a pawn shop.” Wumpus has accomplished continuity with ‘BIKE PORN’ and that’s half the battle of making a great album. This isn’t a break open a bottle of Wild Turkey and cry all night record, but you may be able to gun 3 Blue Ribbons and feel pretty fiesty once it is over with.
